I have had 4 different kindles keyboard, touch, paper white, and oasis and an early Sony E reader. I read primarily on my iPad. Although the dictionary and highlighting are occasionally helpful. I still think you need a better collection hierarchy.

Some authors write romance, mystery, and paranormal. This should not be too hard with the database capabilities available. It would also be nice if there was an easier way to add multiple books to a collection. A setting to automatically remove a downloaded book after completion would also be helpful.

Just a few ideas. I have a current big investment in kindle but if somebody else has a good library organization capability I might move on since this is really holding things back. With hard copy books I can organize my shelves how I want, electronic organization should be even easier. Please clarify. Remember digital picture frames? They all could hold thousands of pictures but none had any easy method of ordering - and therefore accessing - this mass of data.

Consequently, these devices have become shelfware. The need was so obvious but not one single manufacturer chose to address this critical limitation. Now we have e-readers, most particularly Kindles.

Again, able to easily contain thousands of books but after being on the market for years still offering no real method of organizing and accessing your library. In this case, they continue to be bought and used because they are sooooo convenient for reading. I have several hundred books but I never load more than 10 to 20 at any time on my Paperwhite because I am not about to manually page through books eight at time when trying to find something.

This is so frustrating Can you possibly explain why this situation exists? Since you specialize in e-readers I thought that if anyone could explain this absurdity you could. Thank you. I'm with you on this, Jim. I downgraded it from 5.

Any suggestion on a newer version? Perhaps I'm Lucky bt I have had no real problems in putting most of my kindle books titles into about 45 categories colections in the kindle app on my computer. I usually access the book I want to read on my computer first so that it is my current book when accessing on my tablet or phone. The problem arises in trying to place books into my collections because the category collections list is in the order in which I created each category collection instead of Alphabetical order but I can find no way of reordering that list short of deleting the collcetions and re-creating them in alphabetical order.

Can items listed on my contents be deleted from the list once they are in collections folder? As so often happens instructions for adding collections bear no resemblance to my newly purchased kindle. That's a lie. This article is only PR for selling pseudo collector editing programs. If you want to remove drm with this software, you need to pay for it.

I've been using the Kindle Collection and it worked good until I went to Kindle Unlimited and upon returning the book it also deletes from the collection. Was very disappointed; would like to find a place where I can list all my Amazon books that I have read. Any suggestions. Why not use Goodreads???? I create a collection on my kindle called "been there done that". Once I have read a book, I put it there. I have 2 of the old Kindle Keyboard 3's which has always suited my needs.

I have always done my collections on the Kindle. I have recently noticed these can be done on the webpage, Burt when I look at the Collections on the web page, they are not showing, and there seems to be no way to synchronise from the Kindle to the web page.

I could of course delete everything and start again big sighs and do the collections on the web page presuming these will sync to my Kindles? Or is there a better more simple less time-consuming way? Went to use FIRE this morning and it tis all screwed up.

The first, was a change the home page. The change has made the it much more difficult to use has only three options. The change this morning is the one that really BAD. However, organizing books on this device - leaves much to be desired. From the very first model, Amazon has decided not to support folder structure for electronic books.

Or rather, you can create folders and put ebooks to them, but on the device screen books still will be displayed in a single list with no folders. Instead of folders Kindle offers collections to organize books. Ok, in some cases it's even better, as one book can be included in several collections, such as "What to read next" and "Adventure Books".

Looks like everything is fine, but what happens in practice? Kindle Collections When you just bought your Kindle and have 1, 2, You create several collections, put books to them and your library looks nice. But as you get more books, create more collections, the beauty fades out. Because Kidle's e-Ink screen even if it's touch screen is very poorly suited for displaying and, especially, for organizing electronic library.

First, it's black and white, so forget about color covers. Second, you can't drag-n-drop a book and even more several books to collection. You have to open each book and check boxes in order to select collections that you want this book to appear in. If you have a lot of books and collections - it's a nightmare.

Kindle Cloud Collections Thankfully, Amazon has recently added the opportunity to organize collections in your online account. Cloud collections are synced with collections on your device. Kindle meaning a Kindle device with e-ink not a fire tablet. I have the same problem. I created all my collections in Kindle on my tablet. After a kindle update, it removed all my collections, now only 5 of 50 collections show up and the rest of my library shows as "Uncollected" meaning the book is no in a collection.

On the amazon website under content, it shows all my books are in collections. This sucks when you have over books. Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes. I think I see the problem or one problem at least. Improve this answer. Otherwise, I think it's just a bug.

I don't think that's true. The collections created on older e-ink devices don't show up in Manage Your Content -- I know that is true, but I thought on newer devices these collections will propagate. It's a two way street. I'm not always seeing that, idiotprogrammer -- the collection might show as empty. After resetting the Kindle then the collection populates.
