Yeah, it really sucks having to sync the tracks after recording them I have used audacity for years and still do to record basic starter tracks. I have used audacity on both older and newer machines and have found that as with any multi-track program that you are basically limited to what your pc can handle. On older machines, Ive been lucky to get a total of 8 tracks On my newest computer I have gotten results of 25 tracks and more. General rule of thumb is processor speed and amount of ram you have installed.
